Youth Program

The Youth Program consists of 4 levels and is a great program for both boys and girls, ages 5 thru 12, that provides a nurturing and fun learning environment. LBS endeavors to deliver excellent training—whether a student is working towards a professional career or just loves to dance. Each student is empowered to grow and strengthen in both mind and body.

Students are placed in classes by age and experience. Classes commences with stretch and strength activities and progress to basic barre and center exercises aimed at increasing coordination, musicality, and proper body placement that are age appropriate for each of the four levels in the Youth Program. This program has two in-studio showcases and the opportunity to audition for City Center Ballet performances.

Ballet I
This class highlights an introductory ballet, embracing both the fun and discipline of dance. The dancer will learn dance terms and the building blocks of movement to progress onto more advanced levels of dance training. No previous training is necessary.

Ballet II
This class will continue to build upon the knowledge of the movement concepts and etiquette acquired in Ballet 1. This class offers a structured ballet setting with an emphasis on building technical fundamentals of barre and center work. Character dance is included to help students develop musicality, stage presence, and expressiveness. It is integral to much of the classical ballet repertoire. Optional: take two classes weekly.

Ballet III
For students with no prior ballet experience or who have taken a break and wish to return to gain experience and enrich their lives with ballet. Optional: take two classes weekly.

Ballet IV
For those dancers, ages 9 to 12, who ready to focus on correct technique and alignment in a structured formal class twice weekly. Dancers at this level focus on alignment, flexibility, and coordination to develop a strong foundation of physical and mental understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Character Dancing is included.

Conditioning
Physical abilities make the difference between success and failure. Conditioning focuses on strengthening, toning, and stretching using exercises based on pilates, yoga and floor barre classes. The goal of conditioning is to provide a regimen of exercises for the development of a dancer’s physical endurance, strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Ballet I

Ages: 5 (by 9/3) - 6

Children will develop confidence and self-esteem within an environment that encourages joy of movement. Through classroom activities, children learn control and coordination in their movements while enhancing their listening and social skills in a nurturing environment while starting to build a formal ballet vocabulary. Students must be ready to participate without parental supervision.

Attend one class weekly for 36 weeks (50 mins) - $745.00

Wednesday: 4:00–4:50 ~ 4 pts

Saturday: 10:45–11:35 ~ 4 pts

Ballet II & Character

Ages: 6 (by 9/3) - 8; Age 6 prerequisite: 1 year previous experience

This class combines structured ballet training to develop technique, flexibility and strength of each student while building on their basic ballet vocabulary. Character Dance is included. Previous experience for children age 6 is required. Ages 7 to 8, no previous experience required.

Attend one class weekly for 36 weeks (1 hr) - $845.
Optional: take a second class weekly (use Multiple Classes per Week Registration Form).

Monday: 4:00–5:00 ~ 5 pts

Friday: 4:00–5:00 ~ 5 pts

Ballet III

Ages: 9 (by 9/3) to 12

For students with no prior ballet experience or who have taken a break and wish to return to gain experience and enrich their lives with ballet.

Attend one class weekly for 36 weeks (1:15 hr) - $945.
Optional: take a second class weekly (use Multiple Classes per Week Registration Form).

Wednesday: 4:00–5:15 ~ 5 pts

Friday: 5:00–6:15 ~ 5 pts

Ballet IV with Character

Ages: 9 (by 9/6) - 12 Or with permission of the staff

Designed for students preparing to move to more advanced levels of training. The focus of to develop technique, flexibility and strength of each student while building on their ballet vocabulary and growing their technical and artistic skills. Character dancing is included. ##For those, ages 11+ and interested in future pointework - 3 classes weekly is required for 3 months prior to going on pointe.##
Conditioning Class is encouraged as an optional class.

Twice weekly (use Multiple Classes per Week Registration Form).
Optional: take a third class weekly. Three classes weekly plus a Conditioning class are required for those interested in going on to Pointe.

Conditioning Beg/Int

Ages: 11+
